If you’re reading this, chances are you or someone close to you has been affected by anxiety. You’re not alone!
Here in the UK, we’re facing what many now describe as an anxiety epidemic. According to Mental Health UK, over 8 million people are currently living with an anxiety disorder. As a Homeopath working with clients across the country, I see the impact of this daily. In young people, professionals, parents, retirees, anxiety doesn’t discriminate.
In my clinic, I often meet people who have tried everything. Many have seen their GP, been prescribed medication, referred for CBT, or attempted to manage on their own with mindfulness apps and self-help books. These are all valid and often valuable paths. But there’s another option that is still overlooked by many in mainstream circles: Homeopathy for anxiety relief.
As a registered Homeopath with the Society of Homeopaths, my approach is holistic. That means I don’t just look at your symptoms in isolation. I want to understand you. How do you experience anxiety? Is it tightness in your chest, racing thoughts, avoidance, compulsive behaviours, social withdrawal? When did it start? What makes it better or worse?
Every person’s anxiety is different, which is why every remedy I prescribe is unique to that individual.
Here are some examples of remedies which maybe considered for different experiences of anxiety and causes:
1. Aconite - Often arises after a sudden traumatic event, or sudden shock. This remedy can be best suited when the symptoms come on suddenly and intensely, often accompanied by panic attacks. There can be a fear death, palpitations and trembling.
Argentum Nitricum- This remedy may be needed if there are situations involving deadlines, exams or public speaking if the individual suffers with anticipatory anxiety and fear of failure. The individual may suffer digestive issues like diarrhoea before an event, along with dizziness and feelings of impulsiveness.
Kali Phosphoricum - This remedy might be selected if the individual is suffering anxiety due to exhaustion from stress or overwork over a prolonged period of time. There symptoms may include mental fatigue, nervousness, insomnia and irritability.
The goal is always the same: to support your system back into balance, naturally and gently.
One of the things my clients value most is the time we take. Initial consultations last over an hour. There’s space to talk freely, to be heard, and to explore patterns that might not be obvious on the surface. The act of being truly seen can be healing in itself.
I don’t claim homeopathy is a cure all. Nor do I advise stopping any medications without guidance from a GP. But I do see time and time again how Homeopathy can complement conventional treatment, and in some cases, significantly reduce the need for ongoing intervention. Many clients report feeling calmer, sleeping better, and developing greater emotional resilience.
Unfortunately, access to homeopathy in the UK has become more limited, especially since the NHS stopped funding it. Yet despite this, demand in the private sector is growing. People are increasingly looking for personalised, non-invasive solutions — especially when it comes to mental and emotional wellbeing.
If anxiety is something you’re living with, know that you don’t have to go it alone. There are many paths to healing, and Homeopathy may be one worth exploring. For those who are ready to go deeper and want to be supported as a whole person, not just a collection of symptoms. Homeopathy offers a safe, time-tested, and compassionate approach.
Let’s continue the conversation about anxiety — not with fear, but with hope.
